100% British Twinface Double Sheepskin Rug in Deep Chocolate – Handmade in Somerset

We are so excited to share something a little bit different for us, our very first twinface double sheepskin rug, handmade by our family here in Somerset.

These beautiful British sheepskins have been dyed to a rich deep chocolate brown, almost a forest tone, with a dense, trimmed fleece that feels incredibly soft and inviting under hand. What really makes this piece special though is the reverse. Unlike most rugs where the skin side is left more natural and slightly rough, these are true twinface sheepskins, meaning the suede side is just as lovely, smooth and refined. These sheepskins are usually reserved for our twin face sheepskin slippers and boots, but we fancied trying something new with them.

We loved the look and feel of these skins so much that we just had to try creating a double from them, and the result is something really quite special. It can even be used as a more reversible style throw if you wanted something a little different.

Each sheepskin has been painstakingly hand matched, paired, cut and stitched here in our Somerset workshop. We take our time laying out dozens of skins to find the perfect pairing, so the tones sit naturally together before we even begin sewing. It is a slower, traditional way of working, but it is what gives each piece its character.

This generous double measures approximately 190cm x 70cm, making it a wonderfully versatile piece around the home. It looks beautiful draped over the end of a bed, across an armchair or sofa, laid over a bench, or placed on the floor for a bit of everyday luxury underfoot. The shorter, denser fleece gives it a slightly smarter, more tailored feel than our long fur rugs, whilst still being wonderfully cosy.

Being British sheepskin, it is naturally breathable, temperature regulating and hard wearing, designed to be used and enjoyed.

A real one of a kind for us, and something we may not make again in quite the same way.
