Only the Third British Rare Breed Quad We Have Made All Year

Some sheepskins are difficult to part with, and this beautiful Light Cappuccino Quad is most definitely one of them.

This is only the third British Rare Breed Quad we have managed to make all year. Creating one of these enormous rugs relies entirely on finding four individual British sheepskins that are not only beautiful in their own right, but similar enough in colour, fleece and character to sit naturally alongside one another. It sounds simple. In reality, suitable matches are becoming incredibly difficult to find.

For this particular quad, it was the fleece that really caught our attention. It is exceptionally sumptuous, with wonderfully full, soft wool that gives the finished rug a luxurious depth and weight. The natural Light Cappuccino colouring runs through gentle creamy coffee, warm beige and soft milky tones, creating a beautifully understated rug that feels warm without being too dark.

Every shade you see is completely natural. The fleeces are undyed and unbleached, so the subtle variations in colour, texture and markings are exactly as nature created them. Look closely and you will see all those little differences that make a genuine rare breed rug impossible to reproduce.

As with all of our British Rare Breed Quads, the four sheepskins are 100% British from start to finish, coming from sheep bred, grazed, culled and tanned here in the UK. They then come to our family workshop in Somerset, where we match the individual fleeces by hand before carefully stitching, trimming, brushing and finishing the completed rug ourselves.

At approximately 190cm × 115cm, this is a wonderfully substantial sheepskin. The combination of its size and particularly sumptuous fleece gives it real presence, whether laid in front of a fireplace, beside a bed, across a large seating area or simply somewhere its extraordinary natural texture can be enjoyed.

There are quicker and easier ways to produce large sheepskin rugs, but matching four individual undyed British fleeces in this way is something we remain incredibly proud to do here at Sheepland. No mass production, no generic colouring and no two finished rugs ever quite the same.

With only three British Rare Breed Quads completed by us so far this year, pieces like this have become genuinely few and far between.

There is only one Light Cappuccino Quad exactly like this one. Once it has found its home, we simply cannot say when we will find another four fleeces beautiful enough to make the next.
