Cloister Cream – 100% British Undyed Rare Breed Double Sheepskin Rug

Soft, understated and wonderfully luxurious, Cloister Cream is a completely natural, undyed and 100% British Rare Breed Double, with all of its beautiful colouring created entirely by nature.

Its colouring is a gentle, warm cream rather than a stark white, with subtle variations of ivory and buttermilk running naturally through the fleece. In different light, these delicate tones become more noticeable, giving the rug a lovely depth and warmth while remaining wonderfully neutral and easy to live with.

What particularly sets Cloister Cream apart is its thick, luxurious fur length. The fleece is beautifully full and substantial, with an abundance of soft fur that gives the entire rug an indulgent, sumptuous feel. Draped over a favourite chair or sofa it positively invites you to sink into it, while laid flat its generous fleece creates a wonderfully tactile statement piece.

Measuring an impressive 196cm × 80cm, Cloister Cream has been created by carefully matching two individual British rare breed sheepskins to produce one beautifully flowing double. Matching natural, undyed fleeces is never an exact science, which is precisely what makes these rugs so special. We take our time choosing two skins whose colouring, texture and character naturally complement one another before they are joined and carefully hand-finished here in our Somerset workshop.

This is a 100% British sheepskin rug from start to finish. The sheep were bred, grazed and culled here in the UK, and the skins tanned and finished here in the South West. After tanning, the skins come to our family workshop in Somerset, where we carefully match, stitch, trim, brush and hand-finish the completed rug ourselves.

The sheepskins are also completely undyed and unbleached, allowing those beautiful creamy, ivory and buttermilk shades to remain exactly as nature intended.

We chose the name Cloister Cream for its quiet, timeless character. There is something about those soft, warm stone-and-cream shades that reminds us of the beautiful old buildings and heritage surrounding us here in Somerset.

As with all of our individually photographed rare breed rugs, the Cloister Cream you see in these photographs is the exact rug you will receive. There is only one.
