A wonderfully light, creamy ivory fleece with a beautiful natural softness and an almost luminous quality. Delicate variations in the wool give this gorgeous double sheepskin a gentle depth and character, whilst its lovely pale colouring brings an instant feeling of warmth, light and understated luxury. A truly beautiful sheepskin that would brighten almost any room.

The name Dappled Sunlight came to us almost immediately. As soon as we laid this beautiful rug out for its photographs, we knew no other name would do. The sunlight was flooding through the open doors of our Somerset workshop, falling across the soft ivory fleece and catching every little variation in the wool. It looked absolutely perfect, and we couldn’t have chosen a more fitting name if we’d tried!

Our little workshop overlooks beautifully landscaped gardens, with views towards Glastonbury Tor and the surrounding Somerset countryside. On sunny days, the light streams through the workshop doors, and it was one of those lovely moments that made this particular sheepskin feel rather special. Sometimes the countryside around us provides all the inspiration we need.

This is a 100% British undyed sheepskin rug, made using rare breed fleeces from British farms, with no bleach or dyes. Every beautiful shade and natural variation is exactly as nature intended.

We hand-select our fleeces at the tannery, choosing for softness, quality and natural character. Once back at our Somerset workshop, we lay them out across the floor, carefully searching for two that complement one another beautifully. Colour, shape, thickness, texture and natural markings must all work together, and finding the perfect pairing can take quite some time!

Once we’re completely happy, the fleeces are carefully cut, sewn together and brushed, all here in our Somerset workshop. It’s a wonderfully traditional, artisan process, requiring patience, skill and a good eye for detail. Each rug is individually created, with every stage given the time and attention it deserves.

We’ve been making sheepskin rugs here in Somerset since 1986, and we’re incredibly proud to be one of the last remaining workshops in the UK still creating these beautiful 100% British undyed rare breed double rugs by hand. It’s a traditional craft we’re passionate about preserving, whilst supporting British farming and our wonderful British sheepskin industry.

At approximately 199cm long and 73cm wide, Dappled Sunlight is a beautifully proportioned double sheepskin, with a wonderfully soft, full fleece that feels every bit as luxurious as it looks. Its light, airy colouring makes it particularly lovely for brightening a darker corner, softening a favourite armchair or sofa, or adding a little natural warmth beside a bed. Equally beautiful in a traditional country cottage or a contemporary home, it’s one of those wonderfully versatile pieces that seems to make any room feel that little bit more inviting.
