Avalon Wool-Lined Suede Moccasin Slippers – Handmade in Somerset

There is something rather special about introducing a new style made here in Somerset, so Avalon felt like the perfect name. Inspired by the legends and beautiful landscape surrounding our Glastonbury home, it gives a little nod to the part of the world Sheepland has called home for almost forty years.

Our Avalon Wool-Lined Moccasin is lovingly made in Somerset in small quantities, with all the care and attention you would expect from a traditionally crafted slipper. Made from beautifully soft suede in our warm, natural Sandstone shade and lined with wonderfully cosy, honey-toned lambswool, it has that inviting warmth that only natural wool can give.

We have chosen a slightly roomier pattern for the Avalon than our standard Wool-Lined Moccasin, offering a little more space around the foot whilst still retaining the snug, cosy feel of a traditional moccasin.

We are beginning the Avalon collection with Sandstone, available with a choice of two soles. Choose the soft suede sole for that wonderfully relaxed and flexible slipper feel around the home, or the firm sole for a little more structure and practicality underfoot.

Warm, traditional and beautifully uncomplicated, the Avalon is a little celebration of Somerset craftsmanship — thoughtfully made, wonderfully cosy and designed to be enjoyed for many seasons to come.

You may ask, what is the difference between lambswool and sheepskin? Lambswool is simply the wool of a sheep shorn from the animal in the summer, which is then glued or bonded to create woolpile or lambswool. Real Sheepskin on the other hand, is the skin as a whole, a by-product of the meat industry, which is subsequently tanned and preserved.
