There’s something a little wild about this one.
A soft ivory base, lifted with subtle speckles and gentle fox-toned accents in warm russet and soft cocoa. The tones are beautifully understated, the kind of detail you might almost miss at first glance, yet they bring a quiet warmth and depth to the fleece. It feels as though the colouring has been shaped by the landscape itself.
We are absolutely delighted to share this 100% British undyed natural double sheepskin rug, lovingly brought together by hand in our small family workshop here in Somerset.
This fleece has been hand selected and stitched by us from 100% British rare breed sheepskins, from sheep bred and grazed here in the UK, with the skins tanned in our South West tannery. No bleach, no dyes, just the fleece exactly as it came.
Each sheepskin is carefully and painstakingly hand matched. We often spend hours going through many fleeces, laying them out one by one until we find a pair where the tones and texture sit naturally together. Only then are they cut, stitched, trimmed and finished by hand.
We’ve been making sheepskin rugs here in Somerset since 1986, and it remains a slow, traditional way of working. Rugs like this are becoming harder and harder to create, with fewer suitable fleeces available and even fewer that match well enough to form a beautiful double. Pieces like this are increasingly rare.
The fleece itself is wonderfully soft and full, with silky wool you can’t help but run your hand through, and those delicate fox accents catching the light as it moves.
Chosen entirely by hand, it works beautifully in the home, draped over a chair, laid at the end of a bed, or placed in front of the fire.

We call these “Organic” sheepskins because they are entirely free of any bleach or dye, they have still been tanned to preserve the hide, but the colouring and patterns have been left 100% utterly as nature intended. We do our very best to take these photographs in natural light and we do not alter the colouring post production. However as much as we try to give a clear reflection on the colouring, sheepskin is a natural product and in some lights tones may appear differently, this is the beauty of buying such a unique sheepskin.
