Our rarest, and most popular, sheepskin breed, our stunning 100% British Jacob Sheepskins now made into a luxurious sheepskin double rug.

In our 30+ years of working with sheepskins, finding two Jacob fleeces that match this beautifully is incredibly rare. Here at Sheepland, this is just one of fewer than 10 Jacob sheepskin doubles we have made since 1986, and it was certainly worth the wait. When we spotted these sheepskins in the tannery we simply couldn’t leave them behind. The markings flow seamlessly across both fleeces, making this a truly one of a kind piece.

This beautiful double rug measures 213cm x 83cm, with wonderfully soft, luxurious wool and the most striking natural Jacob colouring. Jacob sheep are a traditional British heritage breed, instantly recognisable for their dramatic markings. The mix of ivory and chocolate tones is completely natural and impossible to replicate, which is exactly what makes these fleeces so special.

This double rug is made from 100% British Jacob sheepskins, from sheep bred and raised in the UK, with the skins tanned here in the South West before arriving at our Somerset workshop. Each fleece is carefully hand matched, stitched and finished by us here in Somerset. It is a slower way of working, but it allows every rug to be made with real care and craftsmanship. These rugs are slow made, traditional pieces, something no other Somerset companies still produce today.

To the best of our knowledge we are the only company in Somerset still making these individual sheepskin double rugs by hand in this traditional way, and possibly one of the very few left in the whole country.

This would look incredible in any room, but especially attractive in front of a fireplace, although we can’t promise that your four legged friends won’t steal it for themselves! Sheepskin naturally allows air to circulate, helping regulate body temperature, not to mention it looks and feels wonderful. This rug can be kept looking its best with a sheepskin brush, which we will provide free with every rug purchase.
