Somerset Cream – Supersize British Undyed Double Sheepskin Rug (210cm x 86cm)

Some sheepskins quietly stand out for their softness, their colour, or the gentle way the wool falls. This Supersize Double is one of those pieces that felt special the moment we created it.

We have named it Somerset Cream, inspired by the warm creamy base colour running through the fleece, lifted with soft honeyed undertones and speckles that appear naturally across the wool. There are no dyes or added colouring here, only the authentic shades formed by nature itself. The tones move subtly across the rug, creating depth and warmth that give the fleece a beautifully organic character.

Creating a double rug like this is never quick or easy. On a recent visit to our trusted South West tannery we spent hours working through stacks of British sheepskins, carefully selecting only a very small number with the softness, density and natural colouring we look for. From there the real work begins, as making a Supersize Double means carefully pairing two fleeces so that the tones, texture and flow of the wool sit comfortably together.

When the right match comes together, it almost feels as though the two skins were always meant to be! This Supersize Double measures an impressive 210cm in length and has a wonderfully full, weighty feel with that unmistakable cloud soft texture that makes genuine British sheepskin so loved. Every stage of its journey is proudly British, the sheep are raised on UK pasture, the skins are processed and tanned here in Britain, and from there they arrive at Sheepland, our small family workshop in the Somerset countryside near Glastonbury. It is here that we hand select, match, prepare and stitch each rug ourselves, just as we have been doing since 1986.

No two rugs are ever the same, and this one is very much a one off piece.

It is wonderfully versatile in the home. Draped over the back of a sofa it adds instant warmth and texture, beside a bed it offers the softest start to the morning, and placed in front of a fireplace the natural cream tones catch the light beautifully.

To help you keep the fleece looking its best, we include a complimentary sheepskin brush with every rug. A light brush now and then will keep the fibres soft, lofty and beautiful for years to come.
