The Only British Rare Breed Quad We Have Made This Year!

Some rugs are special. Others are so rare they become part of the story of the workshop itself.

This remarkable British Rare Breed Quad is the only one we have managed to create this year. Not because we do not want to make more, but because finding four sheepskins beautiful enough, similar enough and characterful enough to work together is becoming increasingly difficult.

Anyone who follows our social media will know just how scarce these large British Quads have become. Each sheepskin is completely natural, undyed and unbleached, carrying its own unique markings, fleece texture and personality. Matching four together by hand is a painstaking process, and many potential combinations never make it beyond the workshop floor.

For this exceptional piece, we selected some of the softest British rare breed fleeces we have worked with in recent years. Natural shades of ivory, buttermilk and subtle speckled tones flow beautifully throughout the rug, creating a depth of character that simply cannot be replicated.

What makes this rug even more special is its provenance. The sheepskins are 100% British from start to finish, sourced from sheep bred, grazed, culled and tanned entirely within the United Kingdom. After tanning, the fleeces return to our family workshop in Somerset, where they are carefully hand matched, stitched, trimmed, brushed and finished using traditional methods.

Measuring approximately 193cm x 116cm, this substantial statement rug offers an abundance of luxurious fleece and exceptional character. Whether placed in front of a fireplace, draped over furniture or used as the centrepiece of a room, it is a piece that draws attention for all the right reasons.

We are proud to be one of the few remaining British sheepskin workshops still creating rugs in this traditional way. There are no shortcuts, no mass production and no two rugs alike.

Only one of these quads exists. Once sold, it is gone, and given the scarcity of suitable sheepskins, we cannot promise when, or if, another British Rare Breed Quad of this quality will be made.
