100% British Undyed Rare Breed Natural UK Double Sheepskin Rug – Made by hand in Somerset

We are absolutely delighted to share our beautiful 100% British Undyed Natural Double Sheepskin Rug, lovingly handmade by our family Workshop here in Somerset. This one we’ve nicknamed “Dusted Nutmeg.” The fleece has a soft ivory base with the most delicate nutmeg accents appearing lightly towards the edges. The tones are wonderfully subtle, the sort of detail some might almost miss at first glance, yet they give the fleece a gentle warmth and depth. It is one of the softest fleeces we have seen in quite some time, with beautifully silky wool that you simply cannot resist running your hand through. Once this rug is gone, it is gone.

This fleece has been hand selected and stitched by us from 100% British sheepskins, from sheep bred and grazed here in the UK, with the skins tanned in our South West tannery. We are the only company in Somerset, (perhaps even the country!), still making these 100% British undyed organic rare breed double sheepskins. Each sheepskin is carefully and painstakingly hand matched by us in our Somerset workshop. We often spend hours looking through many fleeces, laying them out one by one until we find the perfect pair where the tones and fur sit naturally together. Only then are they cut, stitched, trimmed and finished by hand. We have been making sheepskin rugs here in Somerset since 1986, and it remains a slower, traditional way of working that allows every rug to be crafted with real care and attention. Rugs like this are becoming harder and harder to make, with the sheepskins becoming more and more scarce, we have less and less to match. Finding two fleeces that match well enough to create a beautiful double is increasingly rare, which makes pieces like this all the more special. We’re sure you’d agree, it is well worth the effort!

Chosen by hand, it looks wonderful with its unique colouring, softness and exceptional quality. These organic rugs work beautifully around the home and can be used as chair throws, at the end of a bed, stool covers, window seats or in front of a fire.

This rug measures approximately 190cm in length and 70cm across the middle.

To keep your rug looking its best, we include a complimentary sheepskin brush with every purchase. Colours are photographed in natural light and may vary slightly depending on lighting, which is part of the charm of such a natural product.
