Not every double sheepskin rug catches your eye with bold markings or dramatic contrasts. Sometimes it’s the quieter details that make it truly special.

Ash Tipped Ivory is one of those pieces. Its wonderfully sumptuous ivory fleece is beautifully soft and inviting, while towards one end the wool gently gives way to delicate ash-grey tipping. The deeper tones seem to melt naturally into the creamy ivory, creating a subtle contrast that frames the lighter fleece without ever overwhelming it. It’s this quiet meeting of ivory and ash that gives the rug its unique character and inspired its name.

Like every one of our British rare breed doubles, this rug began life as two completely individual sheepskins. During one of our regular visits to our South West tannery, we carefully lay out dozens of fleeces, searching for two that naturally belong together. It’s a slow process of moving, comparing and looking again until the right pairing quietly reveals itself. When these two came together, we knew they had found their perfect match.

Back in our Somerset workshop, the fleeces were patiently hand-matched, hand-stitched and carefully finished using the same traditional methods we’ve followed since 1986. Every stage is carried out by hand, allowing us to create a double that feels beautifully balanced from end to end.

The fleece itself is particularly sumptuous, with a wonderfully deep, silky texture that’s irresistibly soft beneath your hands. Whether draped over the end of a bed, laid across a favourite sofa or placed in front of a fireplace, Ash Tipped Ivory brings natural warmth, texture and quiet elegance to any room.

As with all of our British rare breed sheepskin rugs, no dyes or bleach have been used. Every shade, every gentle transition in colour and every natural marking has been created entirely by nature, making this rug completely one of a kind.

Creating a double like this becomes more challenging every year. British rare breed fleeces are produced in relatively small numbers, and finding two individual sheepskins that complement one another so beautifully can take hours of careful searching. Many wonderful fleeces remain as singles simply because we refuse to pair them with anything less than the right companion.

Before photographing, we carefully brush every rug by hand here in our Somerset workshop, so the sheepskin you see is the exact one you’ll receive. To help keep it looking its very best, we’ll also include a complimentary Sheepland sheepskin brush with your purchase, while stocks last.
