The Home of Sheepland | Our Somerset Sheepskin Workshop & Gardens

When visitors arrive at our Somerset sheepskin workshop, they often comment on the gardens before anything else. Surrounded by colourful borders, mature trees and far-reaching views across the Mendip Hills, we’re incredibly fortunate to spend each day handcrafting sheepskin products in such peaceful surroundings.

It wasn’t always this way.

When we moved here in 1997, the land looked very different. What is now our Sheepland workshop and gardens was little more than a field, home to countless rabbits, alongside an old stone barn, a weathered pig sty and even an original outdoor toilet. There was plenty of potential, but it required years of hard work, patience and imagination.

Over the decades, our family has lovingly transformed the grounds into the landscaped gardens you see today. Every tree, border and pathway has evolved a little at a time, creating a place that changes beautifully with each season.

Our efforts even caught the attention of the BBC many years ago, when the gardens featured on Roots and Shoots, showcasing the famous chamomile lawn that once formed the centrepiece of the garden.

Today, visitors to Sheepland can wander through gardens filled with fragrant roses, colourful hydrangeas, herbaceous borders and seasonal displays, all while enjoying uninterrupted views across the beautiful Somerset countryside and the Mendip Hills beyond.

Life at Our Somerset Sheepskin Workshop

For us, these gardens are much more than somewhere pleasant to look at. They are part of everyday life. From every window in our workshop there’s a different view across flowers, wildlife, ponds and mature planting. It’s a constant reminder of how fortunate we are to handcraft our sheepskin products in such a peaceful setting.

The gardens are alive throughout the year. Spring brings fresh blossom and emerging borders, summer bursts into colour with roses, lilies and perennial planting, autumn paints the landscape with warm golden tones, while winter mornings often greet us with sparkling frost across the flower beds.

Like our Sheepland workshop, the gardens have grown slowly over many years. They reflect the same philosophy we bring to everything we make – taking our time, caring about the details and creating something that will be enjoyed for years to come.

Every sheepskin slipper, rug and accessory that leaves our Somerset workshop has been handcrafted while overlooking these gardens. Throughout the seasons the view changes from colourful summer borders and roses to frosty winter mornings beside the pond, making our family sheepskin workshop in Somerset a peaceful place to work. We believe the surroundings are reflected in everything we create, taking our time, paying attention to detail and producing sheepskin products designed to be enjoyed for many years.

Visiting Sheepland

If you’re visiting us to browse our sheepskins or collect an order, we hope you’ll take a few moments to enjoy the gardens too. They have become as much a part of Sheepland as the workshop itself, and we’re always delighted to share this little corner of Somerset with our visitors.
